Craft projects for kids presented here are given to celebrate Earth Day, April 22. This day reminds us to take care of our planet and stop polluting the land, air and water so as to keep the Earth a healthy place to live on. It`s parents and educators` duty to teach kids to appreciate a beautiful life on the Earth, and the little ones will learn to love and care for it. Handmade Things from Recycled Materials will show children how to make though a little but very important contribution to the preservation of our Earth.

All the projects are quite easy and kid friendly. You`ll see how the skillful hands of craftmakers give a second life to unnecessary things.
CATERPILLAR Made from Carton Box

1. Take an unnecessary carton box with the corrugation inside and cut the shape of a caterpillar.

2. Paint the workpiece green (I used gouache paint with PVA glue). Leave it to dry, then draw the eyes and mouth.

3. Cut and glue the Caterpillar`s mustache (I made it at the end).
4. Make the Caterpillar`s back from the inner corrugated side of the carton.

5. Paint it in desired color, twist and fasten with a clothespin till it dries to have the desired shape.

Your Caterpillar is ready.
These CATERPILLAS ARE Made from Egg Cartons

VASE for Flowers Made from a Plastic Jar

To make the vase you`ll need: an empty plastic jar in the form of a vase (which was earlier used as a container for some food), its lid, paper napkins of two different colors, glue, a bit of plasticine, scissors.

Take a napkin (here it`s of white color) and bend it twice, cut a strip and glue.

From the napkins of the other color bend the strips and make the same.

You have such strips of two colors.

Take our jar and start gluing white strips on it.

This is what you`ll have at the end of gluing.

Now make an interlacement.

Put some plasticine on the bottom of the made vase.

Decorate the bottom and the sides of our craft.

And you can put flowers into it.

CHRISTMAS TREE from Egg Carton

What You`ll Need:
— packings for eggs
— colored paper
— colored beads
— furry wire
— scissors
— glue
— paints and paintbrushes
Making:
1. Cut separate parts from the packings for eggs.
2. Paint them green.
3. Leave to dry fully.
4. Stick the parts together like a christmas tree (look at the photo).
5. From colored paper cut different shapes and glue like christmas tree toys.
6. Glue colored beads like a garland.
7. From furry wire make a star and attach it to the tree top.

CROCODILE for Keeping Pins and Needles
This craft is made from the cloth pieces of old clothes.
Take the pieces of dense texture (drape, felt) of green, red and white colors. Cut long ovals and fold them as shown in the photo. Sew the ovals in the middle with threads. It`s desirable that you should cut the white cloth with curly scissors — they`ll be the Crocodile`s teeth.
Put our ovals together; the red one (it`ll be the tongue) — inside.
The big green eyes are two pompons from threads.
Glue white and black buttons or sequins on the pompons. The nostrils are made from sequins, too.

Some more crafts from felt pieces:

FLOWERS from Felt and Toilet Paper Rolls

DOLL FURNITURE from Champagne Corks and Wire

Other CRAFTS from Recycled Materials

Enjoy your creativity and make your own things. GOOD LUCK!
